The “High School Science Camp” is a new educational initiative developed by the Office of Education, Training and Development of Qatar Foundation’s Research and Development Division. The program is designed for Qatari students in grades 10-11 to provide them with an introduction to careers in the sciences and research field over a period of three weeks.
The first week of the program takes place in Doha, where students are exposed to topics about the American/European research culture as well as preparing them for university applications abroad. Examples of these courses include preparation for college entrance exams such as PSAT, SAT, and TOEFL, sessions on assimilation into the US /Europe, and how to apply to universities.
The remaining two weeks of the program take place in a well-known prestigious university in the US/Europe. The two-week program abroad provides students with an introduction to careers in sciences and hands-on experience in research labs. While in the United States/Europe, students will learn about career opportunities in science technology and academic programs for research and study abroad. The Science camp is fully sponsored by OETD including all tuition, transportation, room and board costs.
This initiative is aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030 to produce home-grown scholars and scientists who will lead the continuous development and sustainability of Qatar’s economy and society.
