QNRF recognises that efforts to promote research must be accompanied by growth in human capacity. It believes that success in building human capacity is the key to helping Qatar achieve its vision of a knowledge-based economy and to increase the nation’s productivity through economic diversification.

Starting from the early school years, numerous QNRF research programs are devoted to supporting researchers and students at different stages of their research career, such as:

Science Research Competition (SRC)

The SRC is an expansion of QNRF’s Secondary School Research Experience Program (SSREP). In collaboration with the Supreme Education Council, it aims to build human capacity in the sphere of problem-solving and develop students’ basic research skills through hands-on research activities.

Undergraduate Research Experience Program (UREP)

UREP aims to provide  opportunities for undergraduate students to experience research under the mentorship of their faculty members. UREP has been running successfully for the past 10 years and thousands of students and faculty members have benefited from the program.

Women In Science Fellowship (WIS)

A joint funding fellowship program between Qatar National Research Fund and CRDF Global, WIS aims to fill the gap between the number of women graduating from universities and those who are present and active in Qatar’s research workforce. The research fellowship spans four months in a relevant US university department and exposes WIS fellows to university research environments under the mentorship of leading US-based female researchers in the US. QNRF and CRDF Global welcome applications from Qatari and Qatar-born female PhD students and MSc graduates.
